Lilly's Story
Hello, my name is Lilly. I lost my family in a bushfire.

There was so much smoke and the house fell down around me. I ran out into the forest but the trees were falling too. I eventually buried myself into a hole in the side of a hill.

I can't remember what happened next, but I woke up at Animal Aid, which is an animal welfare organisation. At the time I was a tiny, scruffy little puppy. I was terrified of everything, I hated noise and I missed my family.

I went to stay at a beautiful farm, with lots of gates, in the country for six weeks. A lovely lady named Jane took care of me, I felt safe there because it was lovely and quiet at night and everyone went to bed early. There were lots of kind ladies there who made me feel so special. This environment helped me become used to the world again.

After six weeks a family came and adopted me. I am still settling in here and the only trouble I am experiencing is that Cat thinks he is better than me. My new owners let me sleep on the bed at night, when Cat is outside. Cat doesn't know this.

I still miss my family, but Jane helped me prepare for my new life and my new family. If it hadn't been for all the help I received I really don't know where I would be now. Cat is okay really...
